World Consumer Rights Day observed with theme of Antibiotics off the Menu held at CUTS Centre for Human Development Premises on March 15, 2016 On the introductory session GauharMahmoodCentre Coordinator welcomed to guests and briefed about the World Consumer RrightsDay is mobilizing citizen action and solidarity within the international consumer movement, he explained about the day that the The consumer movement marks 15th March with World Consumer Rights Day every year, as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.
World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.

On opening remark, Mr.VedPrakash, District Collector said, this is an opportunity to promote the basic rights of all consumers and seeks to spread awareness about antibiotic resistance driven by overuse of antibiotics in agriculture; in his addition he said World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. Mr.Upender Mishra, Food Inspector told we must be responsible consumers contributes to stop antibiotic use for good Health. Mr.Virender Singh Shekhawat, District Supply Officer said consumers should be aware of their rights and check the maximum retail price and the quality of products before purchasing especially eatables or medicines items.

Mr.ChandmalGarg, Consumer Activist and Mr. Sunil Kumar JhaRtd, RAS said the Consumers should be vigilant about their rights and should exercise them with responsibility; MadanGiriGoswami explained about the Consumer Awareness Week, where we have observed three different programme in rural area of Chittorgarh and Bhilwara to promote consumer advocacy and awareness.He is given vote of thanks and total 90 people participated.
