World Disability Day

World Disability day will be celebrated at Govt. College Ground jointly with Social Justice and Empowerment Department on 3rd December 2012. The function will start around 12 noon and finish by 4 PM. CUTS-CHD is running “Community Bases Rehabilitation Program” in Nimbahera and Chittorgarh blocks of Chittorgarh District with the support of Sightsavers . Approximately 150 disabled persons will participate in this function. District level Government officials from concerned departments have also been invited. In the program disabled persons will share their views and success stories. Mewar Viklang Sewa Sansthan will share their contribution and planning for the rights and benefits of disabled persons. Government officials and CUTS staff will tell how disabled persons can take benefit of Government schemes.

International Day of People with Disability (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the planet. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called “International Day of Disabled Persons”. Each year the day focuses on a different issue.
