The Mother and Child Healthcare Project (MCHP) was an effort in health advocacy at the grass roots to generate awareness, particularly among women and their households on issues relating to mother and child’s health care, family size and health services provided by the government agencies.
The Centre catalysed the process of awareness generation among the women in Chittorgarh about their rights and responsibilities, through an informative and participatory project. Efforts were made to create awareness among the villagers about health care services in eight villages of two Gram Panchayats.
The outcome of the initiative was extraordinary. Women of these Gram Panchayats established health sub-centres. The project was funded by Norwegian Agency for Development and Cooperation (NORAD), New Delhi office.
