Consultation cum convergence meeting

On 16th February, 2016 a consultation cum convergence meeting was organized at samiti kaksha, collectrate, chittorgarh in the collaboration with Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.

The objectives of the meeting were-

The meeting was held in the presidency of district collector & Mr. Namit Mehta (the Chief Executive Officer-Zilla parisad) was the chief guest of the meeting. Total 30 DLO’s participated in the meeting from various department & non-government organizations i.e. Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Education Department, Health Department, District Supply department, Rajasthan Roadways, Indian Railway, PWD department, Police Department, Bankers, ICDS Department, Panchayatiraj department, Disabled people organisation, Sanwaliya bahu-udheshya viklang sewa sansthan & Aashara sansthan etc.

The meeting was started by Mr. Gauhar Mahmood (Centre Coordinator-CUTS CHD) with the welcome note. He shared the objectives of the meeting & also introduced the goal & specific objectives of Sightsavers Social Inclusion Project. He shared that the project is being run in five districts of Rajasthan supported by Sightsavers& added that the disabled people are equal members of society and enjoy enhanced quality of life. He also explained the objectives of the project as to facilitate enhanced opportunity for economic security of people with disabilities, to enable Disabled people organization to advocate for the rights of disabled people & enabling environment for effective implementation of policies in detail.

Mr. Kamlesh K. Jangid (District Project Manager) presented the baseline survey data conducted in two blocks (Chittorgarh & Nimbahera) of the district. He also shared an overview on the disability data of Rajasthan & Chittorgarh district & disability act by presentation. Mr. Jangid presented the departmental wise responsibilities mentioned in PwDs act 1995& expectations from departments for welfare of people with disabilities.

Mr. Vedprakash (District Collector) took the issue seriously & said to take the work of disabled people on priority & directed to DLOs to understand the problems of disabled people & said to do the best in mainstreaming of disabled people in all the aspects. He directed to panchayatiraj department to issue Mnrega cards to disabled people who are deprived of & give the opportunity for job according their capacity. Mr. Namit Mehta (CEO-Zila Parisad) said to make an action plan by department to add the disabled people with government schemes & requested to do work seriously, not only for make a plan.

At the last moment of meeting, the officers made their action plan by departments in the guidance of Mr. OP Toshniwal (Deputy Director of DoSJ&E). Mr. OP Toshniwal said to conduct the survey of disabled people in entire district like that. They decided to organize a broad camp in the collaboration of the entire government department in Chittorgarh & Nimbahera block so that the disabled people can avail the benefits of schemes of various departments easily.

The DRM (Divisional Railway Manger) agreed to support the disabled people to make their rail pass without their presence. At the last, Mr. Gauhar Mahmood delivered heartily thanks to all the participants to make the meeting fruitful & requested to all DLOs to help the disabled people into their mainstreaming.
