Adolescent Girl’s Health Programme (Integrated Population Development Project), 2000-01 (Ist Phase)

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) supported ‘Integrated Population Development’ project for “adolescent girls” was initiated in the Banera block of Bhilwara district, in association with the district Women and Child Development (WCD) Department.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • facilitation of the ‘availability of RCH services in the rural & inaccessible areas;
  • prevention of Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs); and
  • decision-making ability of women in family planning.

Training of adolescent girls on “physiology (reproductive systems, menstruation and RTIs), control on the body and its functions (fertility and family planning), available health services (for child immunisation and diarrhoea management, ANC/PNC, safe and institutional delivery, RTI/STDs), nutrition and anaemia, personal and environmental hygiene, first aid, citizen and constitutional rights and communication (social and negotiating) skills” was the primary focus of the project.
